Blendtec Pros
* smaller but light (more transportable and easier to handle)
* container is square and easy to clean
* one hand operation is convenient (you can place ingredients in jar and press button and walk away)
* 7 year warranty
* recipes are a breeze
* container has blades that can handle both dry and wet material
| Blendtec Cons
* stirring stick not available to aid during blending
* container looks alittle less durable than vitamix container |
Vitamix Pros
* vitamix was heavier but allowed more capacity
* switched and knobs allow precise control of speed & power
* powerful motor
* warranty was great 7years and customer service prompt
* container very durable
* stirring apparatus allowed control if a food was not blending well
| VitaMix Cons
* container has conical shape making it difficult to remove food from the bottom of container
* had to use two hands to hold container and control knobs and stirring stick
* blades were sharp so when scraping bottom of container sometime the spatula would scarred
* difficulty in washing bottom due to blades |
We had the VitaMix first and then sold it to get the Blendtec. There are some definite things that I miss our VitaMix for but overall we have been using the Blendtec a lot more than we did the VitaMix machine. We have made bread, muffins, soups, smoothies, cheese spread and look forward to making more.

I love my vita-mix but all the cons you listed are definitely ones I have noticed. You'll have to let me know how the blendtec works out long term - one year from now I expect another post on how it's working, k? Thanks ;)
